Poznań Historical Population

The database of the population of Poznań is the information system created thanks to the following projects:

Nauka dla Społeczeństwa, Opus 21 i Preludium Bis 2.

The system collects and stores individual entries on births, marriages and deaths of inhabitants of the city of Poznań for the years of 1830-1900. The data were collected from the registers of Catholic and Protestant parishes and from the books of the city registrar office.

In total, the data were collected on 157,671 births, 17,832 marriages and 87,261 deaths in Poznań in the years 1830-1900, resulting in 262,764 individual pieces of information on the inhabitants of Poznań.

Thanks to the cooperation of specialists from various disciplines (archivists, historians, historical demographers, biologists), a comprehensive database on the inhabitants of Poznań in the 19th century has been created.
